Technician II - Transgenic Facility


The primary responsibility of this position will be to assist in production of transgenic mice and cryopreservation of mouse embryos in the Transgenic Facility of the Cornell University Life Sciences Core Laboratory Center. Responsibilities will include maintaining mouse colonies, superovulatine mice, setting up mating and checking for vaginal plugs; harvesting and cryopreservation of preimplanted mouse embryos, involvement in injection of DNA and embryonic stem cells, mouse embryo transfer, and vasectomy. Responsibilities will also include routine laboratory maintenance, supply ordering, record keeping, implementation of safety policies, and reagent preparation. This is a part-time, 20 hour week position. Some weekend hours required.

Qualifications: Formal training beyond HS of 1-2 years, 2 years of college coursework in Biological Sciences, or Associates with 6 months-1 year experience or equivalent combination. Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
