CSIR-Crops Research Institute, Kumasi, Ghana

Education:

MSc. 2004 Agronomy (Plant Breeding option)
BSc. 1997 Agriculture
Dip. 1997 Education

Research Interests:
The application of Conventional and molecular breeding tools in exploiting the rich genetic diversity of root and tuber crops to enhance their improvement for sustained productivity to ensure food security and improved livelihood for the farmer.
My research objectives are:
(1) To identify useful types and traits of root crops
(2) Characterize and understand the relationship between landraces and elite germplasm, efficiently discover, conserve, and use variation in natural populations and gene bank collections by integrating current advances in genomics and plant genetics/breeding.

Current Research:
Evaluating selected orange flesh sweetpotato from East Africa and their adaptability to the Ghanaian Agro-ecological zones
Development of a Sweetpotato genetic map using Conserved Ortholog (COS II) markers on wild Ipomoea species (see the SOL Genomics Network, at http://www.sgn.cornell.edu/).
