1. Kwadwo Adofo, from CSIR-Crops Research Institute,Kumasi-Ghana. Kwadwo arrived in February, 2006, and was here through July. He worked mainly in the lab of Steve Tanksley, working on orthologous markers to tie sweetpotato in with the SOL Genomics Network.

2. Mahmoud Zeid, from Alexandria University in Eygpt, is here working on faba bean resistance to the parasitic weed Orobanche crenata. Mahmoud will be starting his new job in Mark Sorrell's lab in the Cornell Dept of Plant Breeding in Oct.

3. Issoufou Kapran, Sorghum breeder at INRAN, Niger, worked on a genetic diversity study.

4. Bunmi Olasanmi from the National Root Crops Research Institute in Nigeria arrived in February and worked on cassava.


5. John Eleblu from the University of Ghana arrived in Sept '07 and worked on maize.

6. Ghazi Badawi Shamseldin from the University of Khartoum, Sudan, is working on sweet sorghum.

7. Solomon Chanyalew, from the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research, will work on tef, in collaboration with Mahmoud Zeid and Mark Sorrells.
